You don’t need a textile lab or a magnifying glass to judge a cotton pillowcase. Three simple checks — done in under two minutes — will tell you most of what you need to know before placing a bulk order. Here’s how professional buyers do it.

Check One: Run Your Hand Across the Surface
Lay the pillowcase flat and run your palm lightly across it. A well-made cotton pillowcase feels smooth and even, with no rough patches, tiny knots, or thin spots.
Check Two: Look at the Stitching and Corners
Turn the pillowcase inside out and examine the seams. Stitching should be straight, evenly spaced, and free of loose threads. Pay special attention to the corners — this is where stress concentrates during washing and daily use. Good manufacturers reinforce the corners with extra stitching. If corners look thin or seams are uneven, the pillowcase will fail early in a commercial laundry environment.
Check Three: Ask What Happens After 50 Washes
A sample looks great when it’s new. The real question is how it looks after 50 or 100 washes. Ask your supplier: Does the fabric pill? Does the sizing change? A confident supplier will have wash-test data and can show you samples that have been through repeated laundering. If they dodge the question, that’s a red flag.
At our factory, every batch goes through these same checks before shipment. We’re happy to send you a sample so you can run the tests yourself — feel the fabric, inspect the stitching, and decide with confidence.
