However, what do you know about Tencel?

Tencel is made from cellulose found in wood pulp. The wood pulp is gained from sustainably grown eucalyptus trees. So, Tencel is a renewable cellulose fiber. The cellulose fiber is composed of hydrophilic nanofibrils, giving Tencel unique moisture absorption ability. Some people usually call it a “cotton alternative”. This is because it shrank less and wrinkle less than cotton. In fact, it is softer, more breathable and stronger than most cotton. Compared to other fabrics, Tencel collects less odor or bacteria and need less laundering.

In addition to its aesthetic and textural features, Tencel is also more environmentally friendly than other fabrics. Tencel is produced using a closed-loop system. 98% of solvent solution used in process is non-toxic and organic, reducing waste and emissions. As mentioned above, the sustainably grown eucalyptus trees don’t need pesticides or irrigation according to the Natural Resource Defense Council.
