The Bangladesh Garments Accessories and Packaging Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BEGAPMA) is looking to launch the testing facility to improve the country\u2019s product quality with timely and reliable testing. The new lab would be set up under the Integrated Support to Poverty and Inequality Reduction through Enterprise Development (INSPIRED) project funded by the European Union and Bangladesh\u2019s Ministry of Industries.<\/p>\n
\u201cSince we have been working with EU and Industry Ministry since\u00a0three years ago\u00a0to develop a testing lab for the accessories producers, we are finally going to launch the lab next month,\u201d saidAbdul Kader Khan,\u00a0president of BGAPMEA.<\/p>\n
The testing will equipt facilities\u00a0including screen touch bursting strength tester, moisture meter, box compression strength tester, drop tester, crush tester and cobb absorbency tester. All the facilities will provide testing in line with international standards.<\/p>\n
\u201cTesting of products\u00a0will\u00a0help the sector people to meet their demands with quality assurance and will always be an important factor for buyers.<\/p>\n
There has over 1,400 accessories factories\u00a0in Bangladesh with more than 300,000 employees. If the government supports its efforts and the training institute it hopes to establish, exports could reach as $12 billion, nearly double the $6.12 billion brought in in the last fiscal year.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe laboratory was needed to make our products competitive in the global market and to meet quality standards internationally. Now exporters of these sectors may avail of the facilities for testing of cartons,\u201d BGAPMEA noted in the mission statement on its website.<\/p>\n
