The tog is a measure of thermal resistance of a unit area, also known as thermal insulance. It is commonly used in the textile industry. In a purely scientific sense, a Tog is a measurement of thermal insulation, with a low number indicating quite a low level of insulation and a high number meaning something that will keep you as warm as toast on even the coldest nights of Winter.

However, a higher Tog value isn’t always better, as most people sleep more soundly when their body is kept at a cool to normal temperature. So most sleep experts agree that you should set the thermostat to around 65 F or 18 C and manage your body temperature with a duvet that’s designed for the season of the year.

British duvets are sold in steps of 1.5 tog from 4.5 tog (summer) to 16.5 tog (extra-warm). Notice that these tog values assume that there is no duvet cover added that can trap air, and that the sleeper is unclothed. Sleepwear and such other layers can make a significant difference for the lower tog values.

Adult comfort ratings against temperature like following:
Lightweight summer duvet: 3.0 – 4.5 tog
Spring/Autumn weight duvet: 7.5 – 10.5 tog
Winter weight duvet: 12.0 – 13.5 tog

To find out more about home textile manufacturer information and our bedding products , please visit our official blog: www.springtextile.com/blogs/ or Spring
Hometextile website:http://www.springtextile.com/.

If you are a importer or wholesaler, please contact to get a quick feedback at: sales6@bed-ecor.com.

We’ve all seen Tog Values on duvets, but might not necessarily know what they really mean.
