Why Reusable Pads Are More Economical

There are millions of people who experience bladder weakness; extensive research has been put in place by many product brands to establish the best and most suitable products to assist in managing continence. Washable Incontinence Products can be washed and reused, and just like disposable products they draw moisture away from the body, and this will aid in reducing chaffing and burning of the surrounding skin. Reusable absorbent products are generally made up of three layers. The layer worn next to the skin may be cotton, cotton towelling or polyester, or a combination of all three. It is usually constructed to allow fluid to pass into the inner layer leaving the surface layer dry. The outer layer usually has a waterproof barrier, which protects clothing and other surfaces. Washable continence products consist of body worn (pants, briefs), chair and bed protection.

A bed pad is an essential item as a part of the management of incontinence or leakage from catheters.  It is a  square or rectangle of absorbent material placed under the affected person to absorb urine. I wish like to introduce the washable(reusable) pads on this blog.

Washable bed pads can usually absorb more than disposables. They perform better after a few washes. Some washable bed pads have tuck-in flaps which help to hold the pad in place.

It is best to buy at least 3 – one in use, one in the wash and one ready.  The initial expense is more but if you use them for a long time you will save a lot of money. You have to be able to wash and dry them. A cool wash and tumble dry is sufficient. You have nothing to throw away.  They are better for the environment.
